5-Day Nutritive Cleanse by Megan Jones

5-Day Nutritive Cleanse: Our Experience

Hi! I’m Megan. My husband and I just recently completed the Young Living 5 Day Nutritive Cleanse. The cleanse comes with Digest & Cleanse softgels, 2 bottles of NingXia Red, and a 26.4oz tub of Balance Complete (Vanilla). 

During the cleanse you drink A LOT of NingXia and have 3 meals per day of the Balance Complete. You also have 3 snack times each day. 

Going into it I expected to be running to the bathroom, starving, and miserable. I am happy to say that was NOT the case. Neither me, nor my husband, were running to the bathroom. The first day we may have gone more than a normal Monday, but not much. 

Andrew did struggle with hunger, but he works around food all day, every day so I’m sure that is what made it challenging for him. I felt satisfied with the drinks and snacks. I loved that the brochure gave us options for all 3 snack times. The choices were great and even included things that my picky husband likes! 

Although there were designated snack times throughout the day, by the end of the week we did not need every snack. This was great because shrinking my appetite was one of my goals for this cleanse. 

We wanted to do the cleanse mainly to shrink our appetites and conquer our sugar cravings. It’s been two weeks and I can say that IT WORKED! Both of us have noticed we are eating less at meals and not craving the sugary junk like we used to. Although I have gained back about half of what I lost that week, I am happy with the outcome. I didn’t expect the weight to stay off once I started eating food again, but I am pleased that half has.

Top 5 Tips:

  1. Use day one as a test day to see how you react to the Digest & Cleanse softgels. You may react differently than us and need to run to the bathroom. Be prepared for that!
  2. Use a cup designed to mix protein drinks (or other powdery drinks)- the ones with the balls in them to make sure it mixes up well. I used a magic bullet for mine because we only had one of those shaky cups. I work in a small office with a kitchen, so it wasn’t a big deal to bring that to work with me each day. 
  3. Use a straw!! This helps so much if you don’t like the taste of the Balance Complete. I didn’t think it was horrible but by day 3 or 4 I was so over it! Being able to gulp it down and not smell it really helped me.
  4. Prepare your snacks the night before! You want to have those snacks ready whenever you start to get hungry. Having our snacks ready and with us between meals helped to not even second guess what we would reach for. 
  5. Do it with a friend!!! It was so helpful having Andrew by my side during this cleanse. He wasn’t eating yummy dinners while I was drinking a shake for my meal. We were toasting our cups together and eating our prepared snacks. It really helped to have him by my side! (Even if he was talking all week about the pizza he was going to eat on Saturday!)
