Have you met my friend Einkorn?

Yummy granola that won't hurt my belly!? Uh, yes please. Young Living isn't just oils. As a company, they care about what we put in our bodies in general. This Einkorn Granola that was launched at Convention is delish!!! It is made with Einkorn wheat, the oldest grain there is. YL grows it the way God intended. I generally have belly issues with wheat, but not with Einkorn. What a yummy breakfast. Only 6 grams of natural sugar in the granola too. I downed my daily dose of NingXia and I'm ready for the day!

Belly Breathing

Did you know that shallow breathing is a trauma response? Funny when you figure out that you don't breathe right. It effects your vagus nerve which controls your parasympathetic nervous system. It can even effect digestion. It's something that stems from holding your breath due to trauma. Do you clench or grind your teeth also? I may or may not do that too 😁Taking 5 breaths in while filling your abdomen, holding for one count, and then breathing out to 5 while bringing your abdomen back in can help. It can even lower cortisol, your stress hormones. I'm starting the practice of doing this 5 times a day for a sequence of 5. And it looks like yoga might be my new best friend. Goes hand in hand, for many reasons. Join me.

This is a great video to show your kids too...

MindWise

Bishop is a talking machine these days. We received this supplement for free with one of our Monthly Wellness Box orders from Young Living. We started using it mixed into his daily NingXia Red immediately. We are going on over a month of use now and the results are incredible. Just 1-2 tsps a day to support normal brain function and overall cognitive and cardiovascular function. Full of omega-3 fatty acids, turmeric, Coenzyme Q10, medium chain triglycerides, fruit extracts and pure essential oils, MindWise is a new and very welcome addition to our daily regimen. Do you think I'll ever get him to stop talking now that he's started!? 😂

Two Peas in a Pod

This might be the cutest thing I've ever seen. We watched frozen and the Giant snowman part is both loved and hated by Bishop. This is what Gideon did all on his own. Such a great big brother. These two drive me to the brink daily, but the way they love each other melts my heart. Terribly grainy picture and they desperately need haircuts, but I'm so glad I captured the sweetness.

Like two peas in a pod, these two goofs.

Day 19: NingXia Juice Boxes

Want a healthier version of a juice box? Try adding a Ningxia Red packet in your kids lunch. Pack a straw if needed (they can turn the packet over and poke the straw through the bottom of packet). OR, freeze the packet over night, throw it in the lunch box and they will have a tasty slushy for a lunchtime treat. Thanks to @my.oil.journey for this fun tip!

Day 18: Brain Power

My daughter loves to use Magnify Your Purpose and Brain Power on school days. She feels like it really helps her focus, complete her work and get more right answers! Who am I to argue? Smart girl! Try applying to back of neck before school or homework time. You can also add to a diffuser bracelet or necklace and send them on their way. Thanks to @beenthereoiledthat for the helpful tip!

Day 17: Immunity Support with The Thieves Line

We can’t talk about Back to School without talking about THIEVES. All the Thieves! Young Living has created a whole line of Thieves products to help us keep our families and homes healthy. Clean with Thieves, diffuse Thieves, wash dishes with Thieves and so on. Our favorite way to use Thieves during the school year is to diffuse it at night, while we are sleeping. I also like to diffuse Thieves in the high traffic areas in my home, like kitchens & living rooms. Thanks to @wellnessvillage for this healthy tip!

Day 16: Healthy Snack- Dill Dip

Are your kids starving when they get home from school? Fill their bellies and calm their nerves during the welcome home hour with this yummy + nutritious snack! Add a couple drops of Dill Vitality to some yogurt and sour cream for a veggie or pita dip. Thanks to Jennifer Woodward for this yummy tip!

Back To School with Essential Families

Find me over on Facebook, at Melissa Perrone Renno, to get an invite to our Essential Families Back to School Wellness class tonight at 9pm EST!

We will share info for how to keep yourself and your kiddos well and focused and so much more this school year.

Then come back here and get yourself a Premium Starter kit and I'll send you some fun freebies too!

Day 15: Fruity Greek Yogurt

At the start of every new school year, I always find myself looking for ways to simplify our lives. For me, the hardest part of the day is getting everyone up, fed, and out the door for school. I want to streamline this time as much as possible, but I also want to make sure my kids are being fueled with a healthy breakfast before I send them off.
One my kids’ favorite breakfasts is full fat Greek yogurt with their choice of Vitality citrus oil and fresh fruit. We stay stocked up on all the berries because it is easy for the kids to grab them and add to the yogurt without needing to peel or cut anything, AND because they are all high in antioxidants and vitamins. If you really want to save time in the morning, let them choose their fruit the night before and pre-load them into bowls in the fridge so all you have to do in the morning is add the yogurt + oils they choose. Because Greek Yogurt isn’t sweet, I do let my kids add a little honey or sprinkle some coconut sugar over the top. You can also add the new Einkorn granola that is delicious!

Quick and Easy Fruity Greek Yogurt
-1 cup full fat Greek Yogurt
-Handful of fresh berries or fruit
-1 drop of your favorite Vitality citrus oil
-Sprinkle of coconut sugar or drizzle of honey
-Einkorn Granola

Here are some combos we love:
-Raspberry Lemonade (raspberries + Lemon or Lime Vitality)
-Orange Creamsicle (bananas + Orange or Tangerine Vitality)
-Berry Blast (blackberries, blueberries, + Lemon or Lime Vitality)
-Strawberry Banana (strawberries, bananas + Lemon Vitality)
Thanks so much to @stephmoon for this yummy tip!

Day 14: Respiratory System Support

Back to school eventually means cooler temperatures and fall weather. To support our respiratory systems while we sleep, we diffuse RC and Thieves in everyone’s bedroom. When we are breathing normally, we sleep better as well - and who doesn’t need a good night’s rest this time of year? Breathe Again Roll-on and Raven are also great respiratory system support oils! Thanks to @bumberjoy for this healthy tip!

Day 13: Goodnight/ Sleep Well

You all know by now that oils have been our sleep miracle around here. We use Cedarwood, White Angelica, Tranquil and Vetiver oils for the win! Everyone's body chemistry is different though so here is another success story from @oil_together...

Sleep is of the utmost importance during the school year, but sometimes we are so busy with activities and homework that our minds have trouble slowing down and turning off. In our house, we like to diffuse Dream Catcher, Lavender and Cedarwood in our bedrooms at night. Gentle Baby is also a favorite soothing oil to diffuse for all of us. You can also try applying any of these oils to the spine or bottoms of feet, just prior to bedtime. @oil_together

Day 12: After School Sports Support

For our children who are involved in after school sports, there are lots of products to help tired muscles! OrthoSport massage oil is a great support, along with Deep Relief. Consider adding Cool Azul, Panaway and Copaiba to massage oil for more support. Thanks to @oilvillage for this helpful tip!

We also got to hear from @lichtenhouse on how they support their kiddos before, during and after their events:
Before the event: Valor on their neck and spine for courage. Peppermint on their chest and shirt.
During the event: Water with a drop of Peppermint Vitality for energy
After the event: Soothing massage with Copaiba & Cool azul.

Another great product to have on hand is the Cool Azul Pain Relief Cream. This is great for those times when the back is hurting, a muscle is sprained, etc.

Day 11: Focus Blend

Focus is a common theme for back to school. It’s hard to get back into the routine of sitting in a schoolroom + listening to your teacher all day, when you’ve been free all summer! Well, don’t fret - there are many different combinations of oils for you to try. One of my favorite blends to make is a Peppermint, Citrus Fresh and Rosemary roll-on. Apply to the back of neck when studying. It would also be a great diffuser combo for when the kiddos are doing homework. Try 4 drops Citrus Fresh, 3 drops Peppermint and 2 drops Rosemary in the diffuser. Peppermint and Citrus Fresh may support concentration and alertness. Rosemary may support memory function. Put them together and they are the perfect trio to get your focus on! Thanks to @whimsyandwellness for this helpful tip!
